SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Government agencies and the National Weather Service are warning several Washington and Idaho counties about deteriorating air quality due to wildfire smoke. The Spokesman-Review reports that Latah, Lewis and Nez Perce counties in Idaho are under an air quality alert.
BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) — Dozens of homes in a rural area have been evacuated in the path of two growing wildfires in eastern Oregon. Officials say people who live in a rural community and surrounding ranchland were told to leave late yesterday. Another fire nearby has burned about 23 square miles. Further to the east and north on the Oregon-Idaho border another fire has burned more than 300 square miles.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 27-year-old man accused of rapes that occurred 2010 in Boise has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. After Andy Gallegos' sentencing Tuesday, police announced that the man is also responsible for a series of prowling reports that occurred near the Boise State University campus last year.
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Tax Commission is investigating tax incentives Bannock County granted to Organic frozen food maker Amy's Kitchen as an incentive for opening a plant in southeastern Idaho last year. The Idaho Statesman reports the county says an agreement was reached and details will be finalized by next week.
