TIANJIN, China (AP) — One survivor says it was terrifying but beautiful. Massive fireballs lit the sky in the Chinese port city of Tianjin (tyan-jihn) after two deadly blasts rattled buildings and nerves. At least 17 people were killed and hundreds more were injured, dozens critically. The blasts originated at a warehouse for hazardous material. One witness says she saw wounded people weeping.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minneapolis Fire Department reports that the ceiling of a concert venue has partially collapsed, injuring several people. It happened at First Avenue, located downtown. The fire department tweeted that three to four people were injured

ATLANTA (AP) — Former President Jimmy Carter is battling cancer. The 90-year-old 39th president released a statement on Wednesday saying that the cancer has spread to other parts of his body. The statement said additional information will be released when more is known. Carter wrote in his latest book, "A Full Life," that his father, brother and two sisters all died of pancreatic cancer.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Community leaders in Arlington, Texas, have attended an event that was a prayer vigil and community forum. The focus was the fatal police shooting of unarmed college football player Christian Taylor. He was shot by a rookie officer who responded with his partner to a burglary call at a car dealership on Friday. Chief Will Johnson said race relations between officers and minority communities must be a constant priority, not just a focus during crises.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida congresswoman has asked a federal judge to block state lawmakers from changing her congressional district. Rep. Corrine Brown filed a lawsuit Wednesday in a Tallahassee federal court. The Jacksonville Democrat says the proposed changes would dilute the power of black voters.
