SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mayor Ralph Becker and former state lawmaker Jackie Biskupski are the top vote getters in Salt Lake City's mayoral primary and will face off in the general election. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the two easily outpolled three rivals yesterday. The final tally for the night showed Biskupski had captured 46 percent to Becker's 31 percent. Becker is vying for a third term.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Supreme Court has ruled that a judge erred when dismissing a child sex abuse case more than two years ago. The Salt Lake Tribune reports the court ruled to reverse the dismissal of 10 first-degree felony charges against a now-41-year-old man who was the boyfriend of the mother of the alleged victim.
OGDEN, Utah (AP) — More than three dozen hoarded cats are stretching the resources of an Ogden shelter, and still more are expected to be recovered. The Standard Examiner reports Weber County Animal Shelter director Lt. Chad Ferrin said the cats were discovered by family members when their relative needed medical attention.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert wants kids to ditch carpools and start walking to school instead. Herbert is set to walk with students and parents from Highland Park Elementary in Salt Lake City tomorrow.
