ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — A Texas police officer who fatally shot an unarmed college football player during a suspected burglary at a car dealership has been fired. Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson says the officer made mistakes that led to the deadly confrontation. Former officer Brad Miller could also face criminal charges once police complete their investigation.
FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — A clip of surveillance video appears to show an 18-year-old critically wounded by police in Ferguson, Missouri, holding a handgun. The video was released today by St. Louis County police. Tyrone Harris Jr. allegedly shot at an unmarked police van on Sunday night. The shooting happened hours after a day of protests on the anniversary of the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black teen.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokesman for Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign says she has directed that the personal email server she used while serving as secretary of state be given to the Justice Department. Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill says Clinton has also directed her team to turn over a thumb drive containing copies of emails sent to and from a personal email address via that server to the Justice Department.
BIRCH RUN, Mich. (AP) — Donald Trump says he's prepared to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on his presidential campaign as long as he's doing well in the polls. In an interview with Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity set to air tonight, Trump was asked whether he was prepared to spend $345 million dollars or more to fund his establishment-bucking campaign.
CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — The Australian government has all but doomed legislation that would allow gay marriage by refusing to allow their lawmakers a free vote on the divisive issue. Lawmakers in the ruling conservative coalition voted at a meeting late Tuesday night to compel members of the government to maintain the party line that marriage should only be lawful between a man and a woman.
