LAS VEGAS (AP) — A fire official says a passer-by who broke windows at a burning apartment was hospitalized with cuts while firefighters doused flames at a duplex just east of the Las Vegas Strip. Three people were displaced by damage to two apartments in the fire early today. The fire official says breaking windows can make things worse by allowing oxygen to reach the fire.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Southern Nevada real estate agents say the area's median home price has climbed to $218,000 in July. Median home prices remain between their June 2006 peak of $315,000 and their January 2012 low point of $118,000.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada researchers are trying to bring order to the skies by joining forces with NASA to test an air traffic control system for drones. The Las Vegas Sun reports that a University of Nevada-Reno team will be one of 12 groups to test drone software at NASA's Crows Landing Airport in California later this month.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service has abandoned logging plans it suspended in the mountains above Lake Tahoe nearly two years ago. The move comes after a prominent scientist filed a lawsuit in 2012 accusing the agency of acting illegally under the guise of reducing wildfire threats that don't exist.
