SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a Tour of Utah cyclist was injured when he collided with a support car.
Tour of Utah spokesman Frank Zang says the cyclist was riding down Big Cottonwood Canyon outside of Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon when he lost control on a curve.
A team doctor says Irish cyclist Matt Brammeier was taken to a hospital in stable condition after suffering injuries to his pelvis, ribs and lung in the collision.
He is expected to recover without surgery.
Support vehicles follow riders to give aid during races. Zang says the car belonged to another team and was following protocol when the crash happened.
