SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Health officials have reported two human cases of West Nile virus in San Bernardino County and one in Orange County.
City News Service says the Orange County case is a 51-year-old man from the city of Orange who has fully recovered. He began experiencing symptoms last month.
No details have been released on the San Bernardino County cases. The Sun newspaper (http://bit.ly/1MS3OgM ) says the cases confirmed Thursday come about a month after West Nile was found in mosquitoes at a Rialto park.
On July 20 officials said a 65-year-old Nevada County woman became the state's first person to have died from the virus this year.
West Nile is transmitted to humans and animals by the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms range from mild and flu-like to severe neurological issues.
