MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — Douglas County sheriff's officials say a 36-year-old California woman was drunk when she drowned earlier this summer at Topaz Lake near the California-Nevada line.

Janneke Strong of Fort Bragg was found face-down in about 4 feet of water on the lake's north shore at about 2 p.m. on June 17. Paramedics tried to revive her, and transported her to Carson Valley Medical Center where she was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The sheriff's office said in a statement Thursday that an autopsy determined the cause of her death was drowning due to alcohol intoxication.
