ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Michael Victor is taking over as president of Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania.

The private Catholic school in Erie announced in May that Victor would replace Thomas Gamble, who retired after 10 years as president.

The 54-year-old Victor has been president of Lake Erie College in Painesvillle, Ohio, since 2006.

Victor says he plans to help Mercyhurst create "niche" programs to attract new students, including programs in nursing and data science-business.
