SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho judge says a Cocolalla-based wolf exhibition company's one-year suspension should stand. Idaho Department of Fish and Game Director Virgil Moore signed the suspension in February, but the company called Wolf People challenged the decision. The judge agreed that Wolf People violated a 2012 consent agreement by allowing guests to have direct contact with captive wolves.
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Authorities are investigating the burglaries of at least 29 cars, trucks and camp trailers parked in an area of southwest Moscow. Police Chief David Duke says items reported stolen include a GPS unit, Kindle tablet, backpack, two bikes and a TV. Most of the vehicles appeared to have been left unlocked.
UNDATED (AP) - Prominent thoroughbred trainer Jerry Dutton has died in his native Idaho at the age of 87. According to Equibase, his trainees earned more than $20 million since 1966 with 1,624 winners from 12,645 starters. He saddled Confederate Yankee in the 1974 Kentucky Derby to a 12th-place finish in a 23-horse field.
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Post Falls Police Department's animal safety division is getting a $235,000 donation from the estate of a World War II veteran. KXLY-TV reports 82-year-old Richard Weitzel was an animal lover who often donated to animal organizations. He died Jan. 28. Police Capt. Pat Knight says the department may use the money for spay/neuter programs, better kennels and expanding the office.
