ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for killing her husband by poisoning his drink with antifreeze.
The state attorney general's office says a judge sentenced 55-year-old Teresa Kotomski on Thursday after she was found guilty in a bench trial. She had denied involvement in the 2009 killing of her 65-year-old husband, Raymond Kotomski, in Ashtabula (ash-tuh-BYOO'-luh) County.
Raymond Kotomski died several days after he was found unconscious in his Pierpoint home. An autopsy found the former police officer died from complications of ethylene glycol toxicity, which is most commonly found in antifreeze. Antifreeze is sweet to the taste and can be easily disguised in sweet foods and drinks.
His wife wasn't initially a suspect, but new evidence led to her arrest last year.
