PARIS (AP) — French prosecutors say the piece of an airplane wing that was found on an island in the Indian Ocean may be brought to mainland France tomorrow to be analyzed by French investigators. The piece may have come from the Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared more than a year ago. French investigators have been carrying out their own probe of the disappearance because there were French citizens on board. And the wing piece was found on a French island.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A new round of peace talks for Afghanistan has been postponed indefinitely. This, as the Taliban confirm the death of their longtime leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar. And Taliban leaders have reportedly chosen his deputy as the group's new leader. A Taliban statement today said Mullah Omar's family had confirmed his death from an illness, though no time frame was given. Afghanistan's government said yesterday that he had died more than two years ago at a hospital in Pakistan.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — When the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog inspects Iran's nuclear facilities, no U.S. or Canadian inspectors will be allowed to take part in that visit. That's according to an Iranian official, in remarks broadcast today by state TV. The deputy foreign minister said Iran will only allow inspectors from countries with which it has diplomatic relations.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — An Associated Press analysis has some disturbing conclusions for some of the athletes who'll take part in next year's Summer Olympics in Brazil -- and in the qualifying events taking place in the coming days. The investigation found that athletes will be swimming and boating in water that is so contaminated with human feces, they risk becoming violently ill and unable to compete in the games. Dangerously high levels of viruses and bacteria from human sewage have been found in Olympic venues -- results that alarmed international experts. Some athletes who are already training in Rio have become ill with fevers, vomiting and diarrhea.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — A Texas businessman has used an app to find his iPhone in a rural pasture after it fell about 9,300 feet during a flight from Houston. The Wichita Falls Times Record News reports that Ben Wilson says his cellphone still works. He says he and a pilot were in a small plane Monday when the passenger door opened slightly. He didn't realize his phone fell out until after he landed. He and an employee used an app to search for the phone -- and found it under a tree.
