ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A former professional football player who now lives in southern Utah says several of his trophies were recently stolen.
The Spectrum newspaper in St. George reports (http://bit.ly/1Ibd09J) that one of three men accused of stealing the items from Marshall Shirk reached a partial agreement with prosecutors this week.
Shirk played collegiately at UCLA in the early 1960s and with the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League from 1965-1971. As a defensive tackle with Ottawa, won two Grey Cups.
Shirk and his wife have lived in the tiny town of Apple Valley, Utah for the last decade. They say several items were stolen from his car collection, but that what pains him most are the trophies. Shirk thinks they were melted down for the metal's value.
