DETROIT (AP) — A judge has terminated the parental rights of a Detroit mother who was convicted of killing two of her four children and placed their bodies in a deep freezer in the family's home.
Mitchelle Blair participated in Monday's hearing via video. Blair pleaded guilty in June to first-degree murder. She was sentenced to life in prison.
The bodies of 13-year-old Stoni Blair and 9-year-old Stephen Berry were found in March. Police believe they died in 2012 and 2013.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Edward Joseph also ended parental rights of the father of Blair's 8-year-old son, but did not cut off rights of the father of her daughter, who recently turned 18.
Joseph said the daughter qualifies for two years of state services.
A relative has been caring for both children.
