QUETTA, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani police say gunmen opened fire on a police convoy, killing two officers and a woman passer-by in the southwestern city of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.

Abdur Razzaq Cheema, the Quetta police chief, says police fired back and killed one of the attackers in Monday's incident.

Cheema says the other attacker was wounded, but managed to flee the scene on his motorcycle.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The southwest province is home to both al-Qaida-linked Sunni militants and Baluch separatists groups who have been fighting for autonomy and a greater share in the region's natural resources.

Both the militants and the separatists often attack police and government officials and installations.
