TOKYO (AP) — A small plane has crashed into a neighborhood in Tokyo.
Firefighters and Japanese TV report the pilot, a passenger and a woman on the ground were killed, while three people were pulled alive from the wreckage.
Tokyo fire officials says five people in all, including three passengers and two on the ground, were taken to hospitals but there's no word on their conditions.
The single-engine propeller plane plowed into a row of houses setting them ablaze shortly after taking off from an airport about 500 yards away in Tokyo's western suburb.
Television footage shows a mangled plane, its tail upside down, resting on a residential lot where dozens of firefighters were battling the blaze and treating the casualties.
