LAS VEGAS (AP) — Dozens of medical marijuana businesses in Las Vegas may be forced to delay their openings while the state tries to fill regulatory positions designed to ensure dispensaries are complying with the law. The Las Vegas Sun reports that there are currently no inspectors based in southern Nevada, leaving the job up to one based in northern Nevada who has been traveling when needed.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Las Vegas man's conviction on child sexual assault charges has been tossed out due to a court's failure to swear in potential jurors. The Nevada Appeal reports that Dustin Barral's conviction was upheld by a district court, but the judge hadn't sworn in the potential jurors in the case. A three-member high court panel ruled that not swearing in jury pool members before questioning them violated Nevada law.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling regulators say the owner of three Pahrump casinos and 48 taverns across the state can merge with a casino company that owns a four-diamond casino-resort in Maryland. Slot-route operator Sartini Gaming Inc. and Lakes Entertainment Inc. say they expect the deal to close August 1 forming Golden Entertainment Inc.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — It could be months before companies like Uber and Lyft are up and running in Nevada. The Nevada Transportation Authority is accepting written public comment until Aug. 3. Members will then finalize draft regulations and submit them to the Legislative Counsel Bureau for review. Commissioners say it's unclear how long the full process will take.
