GORHAM, N.H. (AP) — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says Republicans will never win the presidency if they don't campaign in "every nook and cranny" of the country, especially in Hispanic and African-American communities. Meanwhile in Laredo, Texas, rival Donald Trump said Hispanics love him, despite blistering attacks from Latino leaders because of Trump's comments painting Mexican immigrants as criminals.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama's spokesman has referred to a Washington demonstration against the Iran nuclear deal as a "pro-war rally." Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, a Republican presidential candidate, said at the rally that if economic sanctions on Iran are lifted under the deal, the Obama administration would become the "leading state sponsor and financier of radical Islamic terrorists." The agreement was brokered by the U.S. and other world powers.
HEMPSTEAD, Texas (AP) — A southeast Texas prosecutor says an autopsy backs up the ruling that a 28-year-old black woman found dead in a jail cell died of suicide. Marks on Sandra Bland's body are said to be consistent with a suicide by hanging. Bland was arrested after a heated exchange with a state trooper who pulled her over for not signaling a lane change.
MIAMI (AP) — Prosecutors won't bring criminal charges against a Miami Beach police officer whose use of a Taser caused the death of a young graffiti artist almost two years ago. Miami-Dade State Attorney Katharine Fernandez Rundle says there's no way the officer could have known the stun gun would cause a death. A medical examiner ruled the 18-year old's death accidental.
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — An attorney says federal authorities in Georgia have seized cellphones, computers and other electronics from the family of two classmates who attended high school with a Georgia teenager found dead more than two years ago inside a rolled-up gym mat in Valdosta. Sheriff's investigators say Kendrick Johnson's death was a freak accident. The teenager's parents insist someone killed him.
