OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A man suspected of robbing a motel at knife point has been nabbed in Ogden after a brief manhunt. The Standard-Examiner reports that a man was caught on video Monday robbing the clerk of the West Haven Motel 6. Weber County deputies say the man told the clerk he was trying to walk on to the Weber State University football team after having his scholarship revoked at Arizona State. When the lobby emptied, he pulled a knife and demanded cash. Yesterday police caught up with the suspect.

BONANZA, Utah (AP) — Utah Route 45 has been closed by erosion discovered around the base of the road. KSL-TV reports that UDOT was told of erosion beneath a section of state Route 45 near where the road connects to U.S. 40. The road ends about 5 miles south of the damaged area. The closure should not impact the Bonanza Power Plant.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs have signed guard Jimmer Fredette. The former BYU player spent last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 3.6 points, 1.4 assists and 10.2 minutes. As a senior at BYU in 2010-11, he was the NCAA Division I scoring leader with a 28.9 average.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — BYU got a very public reminder of how to spell "education" after a graduate of the University of Utah spotted a typo on a parade float. The Herald Journal reports U-of-U alum Chad Mortenson spotted the missing "I'' in the word education on a BYU float that was being previewed alongside others ahead of The Days of '47 parade.
