SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A defense attorney says a Utah teen accused of luring a 12-year-old neighbor girl out of her house and strangling her doesn't seem to understand the court proceedings against him. The 15-year-old boy appeared in juvenile court yesterday. His attorney said during the hearing that the boy appeared to be simply nodding along as a judge told him that the charges are serious and prosecutors want to try him as an adult. He is due back in court next month.

The state's highest court issued a ruling rejecting John Pinder's appeal that was based on new witnesses he claimed could prove somebody else was responsible for the slayings.
