PROVO, Utah (AP) — In a story July 22 about a misspelled word on a parade float, The Associated Press erroneously reported which university made the error. Brigham Young University misspelled the word "education," not the University of Utah. The Associated Press also erroneously identified the paper that reported the story. It was the Daily Herald in Provo, not The Herald Journal in Logan.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Grad from rival school spots Brigham Young U. float typo

Brigham Young University called out by grad from rival University of Utah for misspelled float

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Brigham Young University got a very public reminder of how to spell "education" after a graduate from the University of Utah, a rival school, spotted a typo on a parade float.

The Daily Herald of Provo reports (http://bit.ly/1TQSgvl) that University of Utah graduate Chad Mortenson spotted the missing "I'' in the word education on a BYU float that was being previewed alongside others ahead of The Days of '47 parade.

A photo of the float shows it read "Freedom, faith, family through educaton."
