KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (AP) — Former President George H.W. Bush has been released from a Maine hospital, four days after the 91-year-old fell at his summer home and broke a bone in his neck. A Bush spokesman says the 91-year-old Bush returned home to Kennebunkport from Maine Medical Center after treatment for a fractured vertebra. Doctors say they anticipate the 41st president will recover fully in three or four months.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Light rain and moist air have helped firefighters contain 60 percent of a wildfire that swept across a California interstate, torching vehicles and sending people running for their lives. The fire that began Friday burned about 8 ½ square miles in the mountainous Cajon (kuh-HOHN') Pass northeast of Los Angeles. It destroyed 20 vehicles Interstate 15 before heading into the neighboring community of Baldy Mesa, where it burned seven homes and destroyed 44 more vehicles.
RIPLEY, Ohio (AP) — Flash flooding in southern Ohio has left three members of a family dead. Authorities say a torrential downpour sent Red Oak Creek in Ripley over its banks last night, sweeping away a mobile home as a family of six huddled inside. A mother and her son and daughter were killed, while the father and two sons survived.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Coroner's officials say a 21-year-old man has accidentally drowned in the backyard pool of a Los Angeles home owned by Demi Moore. Police say the man was found dead this morning. Police say the actress wasn't home at the time, and the man isn't a family member. They say he was associated to someone with access to the pool.
ASBURY PARK, N.J. (AP) — It was a night to remember for patrons of a Jersey shore bar. Bruce Springsteen gave a surprise show last night at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park that lasted for nearly two hours. Springsteen's appearance came during a show by Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, a band he has appeared with numerous times over the years.
