TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A Twin Falls County sheriff's deputy is out of a job after investigators concluded he was driving 110 mph without his emergency lights before a December crash. Thirty-five-year-old Stanton Jay Wiggins was cited for careless driving May 6 and has since left the sheriff's office. Idaho State Police investigators concluded the Dec. 28 crash was caused by Wiggins, who was injured when his Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle struck another motorist and rolled several times.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise police are acknowledging they entered the wrong apartment to serve a search warrant related to a drug and theft investigation. The Idaho Statesman reports that police broke down the apartment door early Thursday and tossed in a flash-bang device. Police Deputy Operations Chief Eugene Smith said Friday the error "is rare and certainly regrettable." He says officers apologized to the apartment occupants.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Edge Brewing Company spokesman says the company's head brewer has been seriously burned in an accident involving a hot mixture of malt and water. KTVB-TV of Boise reports that Kerry Thomas was working on a batch of Obligatory Double IPA last week when it started to bubble and foam. Company sales and marketing director Steve Koonce says Thomas turned for a split second and suffered second- and third-degree burns to her right side when the kettle boiled over.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Navy wants to store spent nuclear fuel at the Idaho National Laboratory. The Navy says it's building a number of new nuclear power craft and needs to build a new facility at the laboratory to refuel the aircraft carriers and submarines. An environmental impact statement for the project is in the works.
