WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — The search for a missing 12-year-old girl is now being investigated as a homicide after West Valley City police found the girl's body in a horse pasture. Police Chief Lee Russo says the girl's mother approached two officers at a convenience store near their home around 1:30 this morning and told them her daughter had been missing since midnight. Police say there was evidence of trauma on the girl's body.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — The three victims of a head-on crash in Montana were siblings. The local coroner says the crash Wednesday morning killed 29-year-old Duchena Tasha Martin and 17-year-old Isaiah Martin, both from Montezuma Creek in southeast Utah and 28-year-old Shauana Tara Martin from Red Mesa, Arizona. The siblings were riding in a truck when it crashed head-on with another truck U.S. Highway 287.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — Rain has pulled Colorado out of its drought, for now. The Daily Sentinel reports rains since last fall have brought Colorado out of a drought and returned the state to a condition that the National Weather Service says it hasn't seen since 2009. Data from the weather service's Climate Protection Center has parts of Utah joining Colorado in leaving the drought behind.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah lawmakers are taking pain in their search for a new prison site, saying they need two more months to review technical details of each of their final four sites. Lawmakers on the Prison Relocation Commission pushed back their deadline to Oct. 1 for a final recommendation site. The prison commission is studying four locations in Salt Lake City, Grantsville, Eagle Mountain and Fairfield.
