RENO, Nev. (AP) — OSHA officials say an electrician working at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno has died. KRNV-TV reports that Brandon Warlitner was electrocuted Monday while working at the stadium. The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority, which manages the stadium, declined to comment on the death.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Tesla Motors is snapping up more land in northern Nevada as it continues to build its $5 billion gigafactory. KTVN-TV reports that the company has confirmed that it bought almost 2,000 more acres of land near the plant to add to the 1,000 acres purchased last year. Tesla officials say most of the land will not have structures but will instead serve as a buffer between the outside world and the battery factory.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Sen. Dean Heller and congressmen Mark Amodei and Cresent Hardy are formally endorsing their Republican colleague Joe Heck for Senate. The trio issued statements yesterday supporting the three-term congressman a week after he announced a bid for the seat being vacated by Democratic Sen. Harry Reid.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's unemployment rate has dropped below 7 percent. State labor officials say that Nevada's jobless rate dropped to 6.9 percent in June. Gov. Brian Sandoval said the June number is the first time Nevada hit below 7 percent since July 2008, before the worst of the recession seven years ago.
