TREMONTON, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified the 9-year-old boy who died in an ATV crash near Tremonton.
The Standard Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1K4S0qP) that John Charles Smith of Tremonton was killed Thursday when the ATV he was driving crashed on private property in an unincorporated area.
The crash left the passenger, who is a 16-year-old boy from Texas, with minor injuries.
Box Elder County Sheriff's deputies say neither boy was wearing a helmet.
The 9-year-old boy's obituary said he was one of nine children and loved to sing and play the piano. He was also active in his church, sports and Cub Scouts.
