SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — Police say a Cleveland woman who was mauled to death by a pit bull had been visiting relatives at a home where the dog was kept.

Seventy-one-year-old Annie Williams was attacked Sunday afternoon in Shaker Heights and died at a hospital. Shaker Heights police Cmdr. John Cole says she was bit numerous times.

No one has been arrested. Cole says no one living in the home has claimed ownership of the dog.

The attack occurred on the driveway of the property of Williams' relatives. Neighbors tried to pull the dog off her.

Cole says the dog fled after a neighbor shot it. Police found the dog in that backyard and killed it.
