LONDON (AP) — For the second year in a row, Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) has defeated longtime rival Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final. The top-ranked player in the world beat Federer 7-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. The match was the 40th between the two and the series is now tied at 20-20. Djokovic is the first person to win two Wimbledon championships in a row since Federer collected his fifth consecutive trophy in 2007.
VIENNA (AP) — Negotiators are said to be close to a deal to curb Iran's nuclear program in return for sanctions relief. Two diplomats tell The Associated Press that a provisional deal could be reached by the end of the day and announced tomorrow. But details are still being worked out, and senior U.S. and Iranian officials say there might not be enough time to reach a deal today.
MEXICO CITY (AP) — A manhunt is underway for Mexico's most powerful drug lord, who escaped from a maximum-security prison near Mexico City. Security officials say Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman got out through a mile-long tunnel from the shower area of his cell. A retired U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration official says if he isn't caught immediately, Guzman could be back in full command of the Sinaloa drug cartel in 48 hours.
CAIRO (AP) — Omar Sharif has been buried in Cairo following a quiet funeral. The Egyptian-born actor known for his roles in "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Doctor Zhivago" died of a heart attack in a Cairo hospital on Friday at the age of 83. Sharif's son, Tarek, revealed in May that his father had Alzheimer's disease.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Universal's "Minions" have overrun the box office this weekend, as audiences in the U.S. and Canada shelled out an estimated $115 million to see the evil-master-serving horde frolic on the big screen. Minions easily beat "Jurassic World," which grossed about $18 million in its fifth weekend after release. Disney's "Inside Out" came in third with $17 million in its fourth weekend.
