SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A former Davis High School English teacher who pleaded guilty to having sexual relations with three male students is set to be sentenced today. Prosecutors say one of the boys was 16 and two were 17 when Brianne Altice had sex with them, and the 36-year-old woman continued one unlawful sexual relationship after her 2013 arrest. She faces up to 15 years in prison on each count.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police have sent a section of a femur to Las Vegas authorities in hopes of solving a crime there. The Deseret News reports that authorities found the body of a man in the small southern Utah community of Summit and believe it may be linked to a homicide investigation in Las Vegas.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — A former BYU student accused of running a meth lab in his university-approved housing has been sentenced to 60 days in jail. Bryce Cazier was sentenced yesterday after he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of operating a clandestine lab in January. He will report to jail after the semester ends at the community college where he is now enrolled.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The spokesman for Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is leaving to work on the governor's re-election campaign and will be replaced by a state representative. Herbert announced yesterday that Jon Cox of Ephriam is resigning the seat he's held in the Utah House since 2013. The Republican was selected for the seat after his fourth cousin, Spencer Cox, was named lieutenant governor. He'll replace Marty Carpenter, a former TV news reporter who also served as spokesman for Herbert's gubernatorial campaign in 2012.
