BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Power officials say a key part of the company's plan for supplying a growing number of customers in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon over the next two decades is maintaining 17 hydroelectric projects. The company predicts an increase from 516,000 customers to 711,000 in 20 years.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The University of Idaho's plan to keep two murals inside the old Ada County Courthouse covered for the grand opening of its new campus is being contested by the state's leading historic preservation group. The Spokesman-Review reports the murals depict white settlers lynching a Native American man. University officials say they'll re-evaluate the murals after the grand opening ceremony.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho State Police trooper involved in a shooting last week has been placed on paid administrative leave. The Lewiston Tribune reports Trooper Hugh Powell says he fired at a 31-year-old man because the man attempted to run him down with a car. The man wasn't hit and was later taken into custody.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Attorney General's office has released new manuals on Idaho's public records and open meetings laws to reflect changes made during the legislative session earlier this year. The changes include increased the fines for those who violate public meeting rules. The revised manuals are published on the Idaho Attorney General's website.
