BRUSSELS (AP) — Greece's prime minister says there will be a speedy response to eurozone leaders' demand for a detailed proposal to address his country's financial crisis. Alexis Tsipras (TSEE'-prahs) attended an emergency meeting in Brussels on Tuesday. His country has until Thursday to present a framework. It will be reviewed by creditors ahead of a final summit set for Sunday.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The weapon used to kill a woman last week on San Francisco's waterfront belonged to a federal agent. That's according to a law enforcement official. The suspect in the case has said in jailhouse interviews that he found the gun wrapped in a shirt on the pier where the shooting happened. He has pleaded not guilty. The suspected gunman had been deported five times.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Despite final Senate passage, it's unclear if the South Carolina House will also vote to remove the Confederate flag from Capitol grounds. Senators invited the widow of their slain colleague Clementa (kleh-MEN'-taye) Pinckney to the floor. He was killed along with eight other people last month at the historic black Charleston church where he served at pastor. The suspect, indicted Tuesday on nine counts of murder, had posed in photos with the Confederate flag.
CHARLESTON, S.C— Officials say two people were in a Cessna that collided with an F-16 fighter jet over South Carolina and that both were killed in the crash. The Air Force pilot ejected safely. A witness says the military jet slammed into the smaller plane. The crash happened over a wooded area just northwest of Charleston.
NEW YORK (AP) — 20th Century Fox is developing a film about the U.S. Supreme Court case that made same-sex marriage a nationwide right. A representative for Fox says the studio has acquired the life rights to the lead plaintiff and his attorney in the lawsuit that brought a landmark ruling in the gay rights movement.
