TOOELE, Utah (AP) — Fire officials say the seven separate fires that sparked in Tooele County can all be connected to a trailer that lost its tire on a highway.

KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1Iq5RWF) Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands spokesman Jason Curry says sparks were thrown from Route 36 into the surrounding bush after the trailer lost its tire Monday. Firefighters initially estimated that the seven fires had burned close to 30 acres combined.

One of the fires in Vernon had threatened a Bureau of Land Management field station, but the firefighters who are usually stationed there had been fighting another fire in the county.

Firefighters eventually arrived and were able to put the fire down.

Curry says in current dry, hot conditions, anything that creates a small spark can cause ignition.
