SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 46-year-old man has died in northern Utah while running in a popular mountain relay race.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office said Friday in a news release that Tyler Rasch of Park City collapsed shortly after 8 a.m. while running in the Ragnar race near the small town of Paradise

An off-duty paramedic who was a driving a support vehicle for the race saw Rasch collapse and tried to resuscitate him. Other emergency responders also tried to help.

He was transported to a hospital in Logan, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

The race calls for teams of 12 people to take turns running day and night until the team has completed about 200 miles through Utah mountains.
