TRINITY, Ala. (AP) — A mental health worker has been killed in a collision while helping to transport children to a treatment program near Trinity.
Multiple news sources report Janie Hurley Owens was killed in the crash Wednesday afternoon when the van she was riding in collided with a dump truck. A Lawrence County state trooper says there were three children on the van at the time of the wreck.
Authorities say two of the children were taken to Children's Hospital in Birmingham and the third was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital. The drivers of both vehicles were also taken to Decatur Morgan hospital. None of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
