RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Henrico County has recorded its sixth confirmed rabies case of the year.
Police say the latest incident occurred Thursday when a resident called animal protection officers and reported that a dog tangled with a raccoon, and the raccoon was killed. The raccoon's remains tested positive for rabies.
No other animals or people were believed to be exposed.
The dog is being quarantined at the owner's home after receiving a booster shot.
