CLARKIA, Idaho (AP) — The Shoshone County Sheriff's office says that an Idaho man has died after a logging accident.
KXLY TV reports (http://bit.ly/1HBmzSG ) that officials responded to a call saying an adult man was seriously injured in the Christmas Creek area, north of Clarkia.
When they arrived, they found 32-year-old Douglas Cook of Santa, Idaho unconscious with no vital signs and suffering from head trauma.
Firefighters performed CPR, but they couldn't resuscitate him. Cook was working on a high line logging crew for Pine Creek logging. He was securing logs 200 feet downhill from a high line machine when the machine lost hydraulic pressure, causing the boom carriage to drop. It struck Cook on the head.
Deputies are still investigating the accident.
