BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho man who is fighting for his life after setting himself on fire had survived being shot in the head and back by his former father-in-law three years ago.
The Idaho Statesman reported (http://is.gd/6DzdZS ) that 22-year-old Ramon Fry poured gasoline on himself and set himself on fire last Wednesday at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, where he's a student. Police said they don't know why he did it.
Fry jumped into a courtyard fountain to extinguish the flames. He was flown to the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City, where he remained in critical but stable condition Sunday.
Three years ago, Fry's former father-in-law lured him into a garage lined with plastic sheets — prosecutors called it a "death chamber" — and then shot him twice. The former father-in-law was convicted of attempted aggravated murder and is in prison. Three other people were also convicted in the plot.
