WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington is disputing accusations that a massive breach of U.S. government computers was launched by hackers based in China. The spokesman said the accusations are "not responsible and counterproductive." The Department of Homeland Security says hackers broke into networks for the Office of Personnel Management -- as well as the Interior Department. The information of at least 4 million federal employees may be impacted. The FBI is investigating.
JIANLI, China (AP) — Divers are starting to recover more bodies now that a river cruise ship in southern China has been righted. Nearly 100 bodies have been found. The search for the more than 330 people still missing is expected to quicken as water is drained off. The vessel flipped in the Yangtze River during a storm earlier this week.
BOSTON (AP) — A private funeral will be held Friday for the Boston man the FBI says was armed with a knife and had been plotting attacks against police. Usaama Rahim was fatally shot in a confrontation with members of an anti-terror task force. A lawyer for the family says relatives didn't detect that Rahim had been radicalized. They also pledged to cooperate and called for a thorough and transparent investigation.
LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — A tornado that touched down in northern Colorado has damaged several homes. They were generated by storms Thursday that also brought flooding and marble-size hail to some areas. An emergency official says at least three homes were destroyed in the town of Berthoud (BER'-thuhd), about 40 miles north of Denver. The area is still recovering from devastating floods in 2013.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — In the NBA Finals for the first time in 40 years, the Golden State Warriors have won an overtime thriller to take Game 1. LeBron James missed a final shot that would have won it for Cleveland at the end of regulation. The Cavs managed just two points in OT and fell 108 to 100. James scored 44 points. Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry had 26 for Golden State.
