ACCRA, Ghana (AP) — An explosion at a gas station in Ghana's capital has killed at least 73 people. Fire officials say crews are still recovering bodies. The cause of the explosion isn't known. Neighbors say that many people had taken shelter at the station amid torrential rains and flooding.

JIANLI, China (AP) — The death toll in the Chinese cruise ship disaster has climbed to 75, as more bodies have been recovered from the overturned ship. But more than 360 others are feared dead. Rescuers cut three holes in the overturned hull of the ship in unsuccessful attempts to find survivors.

BOSTON (AP) — Authorities say a man killed during a confrontation with terror investigators in Boston had planned to behead an unidentified victim, then changed his mind and said he wanted to kill police officers. The FBI says Usaama Rahim bought three fighting knives and a sharpener and told a relative he planned to begin trying to randomly kill police officers. The relative, David Wright, has been arrested on a charge of conspiracy with intent to obstruct a federal investigation.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The lawyer for two men who were shot by an Olympia, Washington, police officer last month says one of them is paralyzed from the waist down but his family hopes the condition is temporary. Bryson Chaplin is in a Seattle hospital after being shot as many as five times. His half-brother, Andre Thompson, is recovering at home after being shot once in the side. The men were suspected of trying to steel beer from a grocery store. The officer has told investigators that the men assaulted him with a skateboard, but their attorney denies it.

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden and his family are welcoming Delaware residents to the state Capitol today to pay their respects to former Attorney General Beau Biden. The vice president's son died of brain cancer Saturday at age 46. He'll lie in honor in the state Senate chamber, following a processional from Wilmington to Dover. President Barack Obama will deliver a eulogy at the funeral on Saturday.
