RENO, Nev. (AP) — Three of the multipurpose fields at Sparks' Golden Eagle Regional Park are showing signs of premature deterioration.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/1MlokDo ) the city's parks and recreation department started noticing the early breakdown of turf on the multipurpose fields a couple of years ago.
Fieldturf installed Golden Eagle's fields in 2008. It was reportedly the single largest installation of artificial turf at one time in North America.
Now, the grass-like strands on the fields have begun to break.
Parks and recreation director, Tracy Domingues, says they are awaiting FieldTurf's proposal on the warranty, which is set to expire in less than a year.
Domingues says the park contributes to the city's economy and the city hopes repairs can be done within the warranty.
