SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A top-ranking Mormon leader, 92-year-old L. Tom Perry, has died from cancer. Church spokesman Eric Hawkins said in a statement that Perry died Saturday at his home in Salt Lake City. Perry was diagnosed with cancer in late April. He began receiving radiation treatment and briefly returned to work as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, a high-level governing body of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Experts say an unusually wet May across much of Utah may not have dramatically improved the state's water supply situation, but it delayed the start of wildfire season and allowed farmers to conserve irrigation water. State and federal officials told The Salt Lake Tribune that the rainstorms will help the state get through June without a huge increase in fire potential and will push the wildfire season to as late as August.

HURRICANE, Utah (AP) — An experimental airplane crashed in a field in southern Utah on Saturday morning, seriously wounding the pilot. Witnesses told police they say the plane take off from the airport in Hurricane and make two circles in the area before going down. The 62-year-old pilot, who was flying alone, was rushed to a St. George hospital with serious injuries.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a man found dead in a Millcreek apartment complex may have been shot while he was house-sitting. Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal says 32-year-old Gildardo Toledo of Kearns had been at the apartment for about a week when he was reported dead on Friday evening. He says Toledo was staying at the apartment while his daughter and her mother were out of town.
