WYTHEVILLE, Va. (AP) — A Texas man who pleaded guilty to scaling a White House fence and dashing into the executive mansion has now pleaded guilty to two felony counts following a Virginia high-speed chase last July.
The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/1J9DOdy ) reports 43-year-old Omar Gonzalez was given a 15-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty Thursday in Wythe County Circuit Court to possessing a sawed-off shotgun and eluding police during a July 2014 police chase on Interstate 81.
Wythe County attorney Greg Hagar says Gonzalez is an Army veteran and had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
While out on bond for the police chase, Gonzalez made national news when he reached the East Room of the White House in September while carrying a knife. Gonzalez will be sentenced for that incident June 8.
