LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a semi-truck driver is in custody after fleeing from a crash with a taxi near the Las Vegas Strip that left four people from Canada hospitalized, including one in critical condition.
The passengers from Calgary, Canada were riding in a 2012 Dodge Caravan taxi going north on a road near the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
It was hit by a 2008 Peterbilt semi-truck with a flatbed trailer going south that drifted.
Las Vegas police say the truck driver was 44-year-old Bernard Tropp of Las Vegas.
He was found nearby after fleeing on foot and will face charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.
A listed telephone number or an attorney for Tropp couldn't be found to seek comment on the charges.
