SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — A dozen people are missing after record rainfall triggered flash flooding in central Texas. The Blanco River rose 26 feet in an hour, damaging hundreds of homes. One man's body was found near the river. The weekend storms are also blamed for deaths in Oklahoma.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Authorities in Mexico say at least 10 people are dead after a tornado raged through a border city. A baby is missing after a twister ripped the child from its mother's arms. The twister struck Ciudad Acuna around the time buses were preparing to take children to school.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — President Barack Obama says Americans must never stop trying to repay those who died in battle. He spoke at Arlington National Cemetery, a place he said reflects America itself -- its history, its diversity and "the wars we've waged for democracy." He said this is the first Memorial Day in 14 years without U.S. forces involved in a major ground war.

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. military jets have escorted an Air France airliner to New York's Kennedy Airport after a threat was made against the flight. The FBI says the jets scrambled this morning after an anonymous caller claimed a chemical weapon was aboard the aircraft. The airliner landed safely and a search so far has turned up no weapons.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Researchers hoping to find out what really causes Alzheimer's are adding brain scans to an ambitious study. The scans are aimed at discovering what role is played by tangles of protein that clog dying brain cells. New imaging can spot those tangles in living brains. The study is testing whether an experimental drug might help healthy but at-risk people stave off Alzheimer's.
