London (dpa) - Amelie Mauresmo held her nerve to deny Justine Henin-Hardenne a career Grand Slam sweep, posting a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory to win the Wimbledon Championships Saturday.
World number 1 Mauresmo of France lifted her second major title of the season after claiming the Australian Open five months ago when Henin-Hardenne quit in their second set with illness.
Mauresmo's fightback victory prevented the Belgian from completing a career Grand Slam title collection after winning the French Open in 2003, 2005 and 2006 plus the 2003 US Open and the 2004 Australian Open.
