WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — A West Valley City woman has been charged with murder in last year's death of her 13-month-old son. The Deseret News reports Kimberly Hawkins was charged yesterday after a medical examiner found that the infant may have been suffocated. Charging documents say that some of Hawkins' statements regarding her son's death had been inconsistent.

HOOPER, Utah (AP) — Animal control officers and residents in Weber County helped pull a horse out of an 8-foot hole that had opened during a rainstorm. Weber County animal services Lt. Chad Ferrin tells KSL-TV that neighbors had heavy-duty machinery and officers had straps to carefully hoist the horse out of the hole in Hooper Monday. The horse was unharmed.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The number of skiers and snowboarders hitting the slopes in Utah dropped this year amid lackluster snowfall. Ski Utah says there were 3.9 million day visits during the 2014-2015 season, the lowest total in nine years. The state's drop of about 5 percent was in line with resorts nationwide.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Jazz will have the No. 12 pick in the NBA draft. The selection was determined at the draft lottery yesterday. The Jazz also own the No. 42 pick and the 54th selection from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
