SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Only three Utah law enforcement agencies reported using drones over the past year. The State Department of Public Safety says most of the 28 reported flights from May 2014 to May 2015 were for test flights or used to gather images or video for promotional reasons. Lindon police used their small helicopter-like drone seven times get aerial photos of fires and chases.

HURRICANE, Utah (AP) — Police say the woman found dead inside a submerged car in the Quail Creek Reservoir in southwestern Utah is 58-year-old Sherry Cowger of Hurricane. A group of BYU students camping nearby reported seeing a large splash and signs that a vehicle had crashed into the water last night.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Interior Secretary Sally Jewell has released a plan to protect the habitat of a struggling bird species from being destroyed by wildfire. The new firefighting strategy comes as Western states work to avoid the sage grouse's classification as a threatened or endangered species. Experts say the restrictions that come with protecting the wide-ranging birds could damage the economies of the 11 states where they are found.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A spokeswoman for Congressman Jason Chaffetz says he is returning to Utah today to undergo gallbladder surgery. Spokeswoman M.J. Henshaw said the 48-year-old Republican representative from Utah will have the procedure done in Salt Lake City so he can recover at home. She says he is expected to recuperate for about seven days.
