PRAGUE (AP) — The Czech military says a Hungarian fighter jet has skidded off the runway after landing at a base in the Czech Republic. Both pilots on board escaped unharmed.
Magdalena Dvorakova, a spokeswoman for the Czech general staff, said the pilots of the two-seater JAS 39 Gripen aircraft were not able to stop before the end of the runway and ejected from the aircraft, which ended up in a field.
The Hungarian air force plane was in the Czech Republic Tuesday to participate in a military exercise.
The accident happened at the military base in Caslav, some 65 kilometers (40 miles) east of Prague.
Military authorities are investigating what caused the incident.
