Motorcycle use in the United States continues to rise, with global demand projected to grow by 6 percent to 132 million units by 2018, according to a new forecast. Shawn Lupcho can personally identify with this growth through his business, Moto Skiveez.
Moto Skiveez has produced a brand new bike short product designed to make motorcycle riding more comfortable. They've created something similar to bicycle shorts for cyclists, except this product is designed for motorcycles, with different designs for various motorcycle riding positions. The fabric is intended to be right next to your skin for the ultimate comfort experience.
Following years of bicycle racing, where it wasn't unusual to ride over 300 miles in a week, Shawn has a personal understanding of what contributes to rider comfort. He watched clothing for other types of sports develop to increase the level of comfort for that sport. He saw many people using bike shorts to ride motorcycles but ultimately decided motorcyclists needed something specific for their sport.
He discovered there are only about five companies in the world that make bike shorts for professional cyclists. So, he met with a company in Italy to develop a brand new product engineered specifically for the needs of riding a motorcycle. It took two years to come up with just the right designs, but Shawn is pleased with what Moto Skiveez now offers. And this product is designed with the motion of motorcycles in mind, which is a major competitive advantage for the Park City company.
While the motorcycle shorts are Moto Skiveez' main product, Shawn is also looking into a line of women's products with this fast-growing riding demographic. He already has more products coming down the pike including a compression sock for motorcycle riders that will be released later this year.
