SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A West Jordan man has been convicted of negligent homicide in connection with a head-on wreck that killed a man in 2012.
Fifty-one-year-old Carl Holm awaits sentencing July 10 after a 3rd District Court jury found him guilty of the class A misdemeanor charge Thursday.
Holm is accused of running a red light at a Bangerter Highway intersection in September 2012 and colliding with a car in which 18-year-old Francisco Ramirez was a passenger.
Ramirez was killed and four others were taken to hospitals with injuries.
Witnesses told police that Holm's minivan swerved in and out of traffic at speeds between 80 and 100 mph before he ran the red light.
